Welcome to the official kick-off of our brand new Sallie’s Ya-Ya Sisterhood! We are so pleased that you are here and checking us out! Our sisterhood officially began in January. Since then we have chartered more than 60 members. God is Good!

For those of you new to the site let us explain what Sallie’s Ya-Ya Sisterhood is all about. First the name: we are daughters of Yahweh (the personal name of God in Hebrew). The Ya-Ya Sisterhood has been created to give members of The Salvation Army’s Women’s Ministries creative opportunities for spiritual growth both individually and corporately and to build bridges into the community.

Our sisters are out and about as well as in and intent on seizing all of the blessings and challenges God has in store for them. Take a moments and familiarize yourself with the site. Here are a few helpful highlights:

You can read what’s going on in other Sisterhoods by reading stories in the Celebrating Sisters section. There you’ll see how God is moving and blessing our women.
You can interact with the site by starting conversations by making comments on any of the posts anywhere on the site. Simply click on “comments” wherever you see it.
You can become a follower under the “Follow the Sisterhood” section and keep up with what’s going on.

We have high hopes and expectations for this website and hope to keep it current, informative, and resourceful. Celebrating the Sisters in Nampa

We had our first Ya Ya meeting on Wednesday evening. There were 9 of us. Our meeting was Dinner and a Movie. We watched "While You Were Sleeping" and had ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, etc. Following the movie, we had a short discussion. The ladies decided that we needed to do this every Wednesday evening. Soooo next Wednesday we are going to start scrapbooking and quilting and once a month do a dinner and a movie!

Our "Sisterhood of the Traveling Teacups" is gaining popularity. It has proven to be a fun and relaxing time for our women to get together with no specific purpose except to share friendship with one another. All women are welcome to attend. Each month, we meet at a different woman's home, thus we are getting to know each other more personally as we get to meet our women in their home settings. Last Saturday, we met at Jacque McCormick's house. Jacque had prepared a short devotion comparing highway traffic to our spiritual walk. Each lady also shared the story behind the mug/cup she chose to bring to the Tea. Jacque had prepared a nice spread of goodies which were enjoyed by all. Our plan is that the hostess provides everything when it is her turn. The treats are a special surprise, whatever our host decides to provide.

It is a nice break in the otherwise hurried schedules. One Saturday morning a month seems to work well. As for myself, I find myself very relaxed, knowing that my only purpose in coming is to get to know the other ladies better, to share some laughs and treats and be on my way.

I thank God for my dear sisters in the Lord. We can laugh and cry together and offer it all our Lord in prayer. God is good!

Do you like the new look of the website?! We are very excited about the help we've gotten from Hilary at Simply Yours Designs who desgined our new website!

Things are still under construction - so you may notice that when you click on a link that it takes you to the old version of the website. We are continuing work on the website to get it all together and uniform. In the meantime, keep checking back.

Good things are already happening - PRAISE THE LORD!

Major Brenda Hathorn shared this regarding Nampa's Ya Ya Sisterhood:

We are off to a great start with our Ya Ya Sisterhood. We narrowed our group down to the "Group Of Unfinished Projects". Ladies brought in their cross stitching, crotcheting, scrapbooking and other quilting. We are planning the Retreat already. One of our fundraisers is going to be a garage sale. I think this year we will have a good group of ladies attending.

I have to tell you this is the easiest women's group that I have been a part of where I had to figure it out. It's really a no brainer. The women came up with the title and we ran with it and we are all content. Once a month we will have a "Dinner and a Movie" event. Annnnnnd when we get our Starbucks card, we are all going out for coffee, together and enjoy each others' company!

Thank you for the inspiration and the incentives. I have never, ever felt this way about women's ministries. I have always fought it tooth and nail. Always dreaded having to be responsible for women. I have a feeling I'm gonna enjoy this one.

Some of the resources you'll find on this site are other websites for ministry to women. On the right hand side you'll see the header "Sisterhood Sites" with links underneath. One of those links is for Girlfriends Unlimited. They have some new things going on:

When you log on, check out the "New for 2010." Read about the NEW Girlfriends Unlimited Planner, where you'll find fresh resources and programming ideas every other month. You'll receive a Planner in the mail every other month (be sure to keep your contact information updated under Account Management!), and you can also print off additional copies for your team.

You can sign up for one or more of the NEW Girlfriends Unlimited Training Series. They're bringing trainings to you! Choose your topics, dates, and times. Log in and click on the Trainings page. You can even schedule your leadership meetings to occur at the same time as trainings, so you can equip and encourage your team throughout the year.
